Most folks will never go to Facebook to do their searches. Doesn’t mean Facebook on page seo should be overlooked in any way. I’m still using fbml to give my clients an advantage in search for example. This holds even if Facebook stops hiding business page content from Google today.

Aside: Search rose in popularity because of the interface design or lack thereof. We’ll see the same during the next feature contraction of the Internet -maybe in 2012.

Facebook is big but it’s not going get bigger than search unless and until they merge with Microsoft and Yahoo Search, which they may do. See: http://searchengineland.com/yahoo-microsoft-receive-go-ahead-to-implement-search-deal-36465 They still will not be bigger than “search” as a result but they could become the most popular search engine. For Facebook Pages or Twitter to be more popular than Google Pages, Facebook would need to be more popular than search itself.

Facebook Pages are of course much more popular and helpful to business owners right now “in the social space.” But unless they open their content to Google’s index, they’ll stay confined to the Facebook Search ecology.

The likelyhood that “Google Pages” will be easier to find requires business owners and marketers to take notice. Especially while Facebook continues to exclude content from the google.

Therefore, I continue to recommend Facebook business pages and the expansion thereof for business owners. Today I’m hoping my clients will jump into the url grab and secure their brand on Google Pages.

If I’m right, Google Pages will rank better and offer better longterm roi as a result. If I’m wrong, no mattah, good having both.

As a Google Solution Provider I’m simply sharing that my first experiences with Google Pages have been “really” positive.

Reminds me of the worst in government free market interference and I do believe it hinges on the presidential elections. Maybe this is why Eric Schmidt is leaving Google? Would Eric pull a Jim Barksdale?

One month before signing the Emancipation Proclamation, President Lincoln sent a long message to Congress which was largely routine, but also proposed controversial measures such as voluntary colonization of slaves and compensated emancipation.

Lincoln devoted so much attention to preparing the message that his friend David Davis said, “Mr. Lincoln’s whole soul is absorbed in his plan of remunerative emancipation.” The concluding paragraphs shown below demonstrate Lincoln’s passion for this plan and contain some of the most famous statements he ever wrote. Composer Aaron Copeland used excerpts in his evocative “Lincoln Portrait.”

I do not forget the gravity which should characterize a paper addressed to the Congress of the nation by the Chief Magistrate of the nation. Nor do I forget that some of you are my seniors, nor that many of you have more experience than I, in the conduct of public affairs. Yet I trust that in view of the great responsibility resting upon me, you will perceive no want of respect yourselves, in any undue earnestness I may seem to display.

Is it doubted, then, that the plan I propose, if adopted, would shorten the war, and thus lessen its expenditure of money and of blood? Is it doubted that it would restore the national authority and national prosperity, and perpetuate both indefinitely? Is it doubted that we here–Congress and Executive–can secure its adoption? Sometimes convergence takes much longer than expected. I’ve known for a long time that Internet and Television convergence will happen when every tv show or movie is on the Internet. I wouldn’t have guessed that the entire hardware platform that the Internet runs on would change first. It’s true, if you thought television would converge with the Internet in a google, apply msn -whatever tv / Internet model you’re wrong. The telephone will drive television onto the interwebs. TV producers are realizing that it’s about mobile and this will be the final driver that gets the tv shows and movies on telephones first.

When convergence of any kind takes too long, unintended consequences appear.  We now have way more user-generated content, comments, share and like buttons as well as super tight video integrations on phones and tablets. It’s over. Cash in your Internet TV bets. It’s a meme like social marketing destined for the pile of gunk that falls from a bursting bubble. I’ll go a step further.

Converging Internet and Television is a recipe for disaster. The weight of the television business model could cause permanent mindshare deficiencies in the the consumers of online services that expect Internet and TV to be better together, like peanut butter and chocolate. But the two together and neither will work well. Television has to in no certain terms, dissolve it’s broadcast model and become a great content provider like everyone else that wants attention online.

Adobe Media Player and others come close to a model that may work. In other words, the player, will most likely be the convergence point.
